If you are up to a challenge, why not take a walk on the wild side and try to conquer the height of St. Vincent's tallest mountain(4048 ft) La Soufriere. And what's more, it's one of the most perfect and beautiful craters in the world today.
La Soufriere which takes up about ⅓ of the island's northern end, towers over the fishing and farming villages of Richmond in the northwest and Owia, home of the Carib Indians in the northeast.
This 1½ hour long bus ride from the Cruise Terminal will take you to the famous Dry River (Rabacca) from where the Pitons in St. Lucia can be seen on a clear day. You then proceed to the end of the motorable road - The Bamboo Range (1200 ft above sea level) where the hike begins.
As you ascend with your bottled water you will climb the 3 mile track as you go through the tropical rain forest, bamboos, lush trees and all the epiphytes growing around the trees.
Once reaching the summit you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view, feeling like you are on top of the world. The descent to the Bamboo Range is approximately 1¾ hrs at which time lunch will be delivered.
